Frequently Ask Question

What courses should I take first?

If you are new to OSHA, we recommend that you take the fundamentals:
  • OSHA 510 - OSHA Standards for Construction Industry
  • OSHA 511 - OSHA Standards for General Industry
Otherwise, review the course offerings and choose classes that are of interest to you.

In what order should I take the courses after finishing the fundamental OSHA courses?

There is no required order to take courses. Once you have completed the fundamental courses listed, you can take any course in your area of interest.

Can I pursue both Construction and General Industry areas of specialization?

Yes. If you wish to obtain a Certificate of Completion and/or trainer cards in both Construction and General Industry, you can enroll in each class as long as the prerequisite classes have been met.

How much does each class cost?

For individual course fees, refer to the descriptions of the individual courses in this course catalog, the class schedule, or go to our website (www.osha4you.com). You pay for each course as you enroll.

What if I would like to have a training delivered on-site at our company?

Most classes are delivered at our headquarters in the Tri-Valley area, with new venues being added all the time. However, all training courses can be customized and delivered on-site at your desired location. Contact us for more information.

How do I become an authorized OSHA Trainer?

Prerequisite: 5 years of specific safety and health experience and OSHA 511

How do I receive emails of upcoming classes?

Visit our website and click the sign-in link on the left column to register to be on our email list for upcoming OSHA Training Center classes.

Can I receive Veteran's Administration benefits through your OSHA courses?

While we are working towards qualifying for VA education benefits, OSHA Training Center courses currently will not be funded through VA benefits. If you would like to be informed when the courses do qualify for VA benefits, please let us know and we will contact you.

What if I want to cancel a class or receive a refund?

A full refund will be issued for a canceled class upon written request by the individual 14 days prior to the first class date. If you are unable to attend a course and notify OTC in writing within the 14 to 7 day time frame, you will receive a one-time CLPCCD OTC course credit. All cancellations must be made within the 14 to 7 day time frame to have the one-time CLPCCD OTC course credit applied. Credits may be applied toward the cost of any future CLPCCD OTC courses within the next year from date of issue. This one-time credit is valid for the first class canceled per individual.

Cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the start of the first day of a course, or cancellation of any additional courses after receiving a one-time credit, will result in forfeiting tuition paid for the canceled course without reimbursement or additional course credit being awarded. In the case of any additional cancellations, no refund will be issued if a class is canceled within the 14 to 7 day timeframe. Special circumstances are an exception to this Policy and must be approved by a CLPCCD OTC staff member. CLPCCD OTC reserves the right to change class locations, schedules, fees, and instructors when necessary, and full refunds will be issued in the case of CLPCCD OTC canceling a class.

What is your Shipping Policy?

The majority of correspondence and confirmation documentation will be submitted via email. On the occasion that information or materials is required to be shipped, standard shipping orders will typically arrive within 7 to 10 business days following credit card authorization and verification. Standard delivery is available for shipping within the United States. We do not ship outside of the United States.

Do I get a 30-hour card for attending an OSHA 510 or 511 class?

In the past, OTI Education Centers have been allowed to distribute 30-hour industry specific cards upon completion of OSHA 510 or 511 classes. Effective January 1st, 2009, we are no longer authorized to distribute 30-hour cards upon completion of the OSHA 510 or 511 classes. The change has been established by defining the 30-hour courses as being based on hazard recognition and awareness, not standards, thus they will not be accepted as equivalents for either the OSHA 510 or 511.

Is there a minimum age requirement for OSHA Training Center students?

We accept students over the age of 16. However, any minors interested in attending a class provided by the OSHA Training Center require additional forms and documentation to register. Please contact us at otc@clpccd.org or (866) 936-OSHA for more information.
